Faithful Unto the End

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/ZrmCj)

“I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith.  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all them that love His   appearing."

II Timothy 4:7-8

The life of faith is like a fight

Where we battle a demonic foe;

His strength is great, but greater still

Is the One within us Who’ll deal him a fatal blow.

The life of faith is like a race

That’s run up hills so steep;

Yet, we will continue on until the End

By the aid of Him Who comforts us when we weep.

The life of faith is a lifelong one,

Beset with many dangers and fears;

But with courage from Christ we will go on

Through prayers, perseverance and many a tear.

Even though there’ll be times when we feel all alone

As Elijah did that day,

We’ll continue to fight the fight and run the race

With Christ, “the Life, the Truth and the Way.”

We may not win every round in our fight

Nor be the swiftest of all that run;

Yet, by faith we’ll press onward for the mark

In every battle until our race is done.

For now the toils and troubles in life are many

When our enemy seems to have the upper-hand;

But, we will not fear, but continue on with Christ

Toward Heaven, our Promised Land.

One day the long-awaited Trumpet shall sound

And the dead-in-Christ shall rise;

Then we who remain will join them in the air

As He wipes every tear from our eyes.

Press on, dear Pilgrim, in the race and fight;

Do not fear in the fray—

For soon King Jesus, our Commander-in-Chief

Will come. . .O Glorious Day!
