This is really my first time to hear this beautiful song, God of this City by Chris Tomlin. The song central thought is the declaration of God's working and rule and power over "this city" (could mean your city). I believe this song is perfect for prayer rallies, worship rallies and the like.
Chris Tomlin did not originally sang this song. It was the Bluetree who first sang this song.
The story was, Bluetree was in Thailand doing some ministerial work when a bar owner asked them to sing in the bar. Bluetree accepted the invitation with one thing in mind, "we're going to make Jesus known through this." Aaron being led by the Holy Spirit came to realization that there are still lots of people who don't know Jesus and so the lyrics and the music of "God of this City" was born.
