I want to start this post by asking, “How is your church program?†Are they on the right track? As Churches face the subtle infiltration of secularism, there are things that we can do to check our church program implementations.
We have to remember that church programs are very essential to churches because it is through it where each member are being taught and fed with spiritual and doctrinal food.
It is a must therefore necessary that we find a way to check whether or not the programs that we implement in our churches are in line to what God what want us to do.
I listed three main questions that you can do to check your programs. I suggest that you make a three column table where each column is entitled with these three questions. Kindly list the answers that you can do
1. What are the things that you want to do for your Church? Answering these questions will tell you what are the things that you desire for your church. This will help you understand your inner motives for your church.
It will help you draw a future picture of your church. It will give you the idea of what you want for your church. It doesn’t mean however, that just because it is what you want, it is the right thing for your church.
2. What are the things God’s want us to do? Read Ephesians 4:11-14. Ephesians is not just the only passage where you will see the sound teachings for church programs. But almost everything that was written about the church has to do tells us just one thing, we are to corporately work together to present each one to God in maturity and with the fullness of Christ.
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
This question then is the measuring stick to whether or not your church programs were in line with what the Bible says the church has to do.
After answering both questions above, you will have then to compare the two sets of answers for you to see the difference. If it is not in line with what the Bible say, it is better to reevaluate your program.
Don’t be afraid to reformat your program to in line it with God’s word. It is important that we prioritize things that were commanded and recommended by the Bible.
In fact, the main problem of many churches nowadays is that they have gone too far to please people rather than pleasing God. They made the churches look like malls to attract people rather than going out to preach the gospel.
Though I am not closing my door for a strategy like this, I still believe that Biblical principles of evangelism and teaching are the most effective ways in reaching the lost world.
3. What are the things that we can do and we will do? This question is all about your action plan. What then are the things that you are to do after seeing differences between what you want to do from what God wants you to do?
It will be like checking and crossing out the things that are in line with the Bible and those that are not. That thing that you are already doing which is in line with the Scriptures has to be strengthened, those things that are not in lined needs to be reformatted.
Going back to the Scriptures is not wrong. It is even more profitable for the churches to do this rather than doing it in our own way.
