Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven Part 2

The Kingdom of Heaven Is Growing
The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13:31-32)
Mustard plants are large shrubs, which sometimes up to 15 ft. high. This is why birds love to nest in them. Jesus explained that mustard starts as a small seed, perhaps one of the smallest among them. But when it is planted, it can grow bigger than all other shrubs.

The Parable of the Yeast (Matthew 13:33-35)Yeast when included in the flour in making bread, the bread will surely grow.

In these two parables, we can see another picture of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is actually growing. As we have discussed in the previous sermons, the church of Christ, which is a Christian church, a church that believes in Jesus Christ and follows what he has commanded, is like a living organism. It was designed to grow and until such time that it will reproduce.
These two parables is an affirmation of what we have discussed in the previous sermons. What we can learn here in addition to the previous sermons is that we have to become agents of its growth.
In one of our prayer meetings, we have discussed that it is the Lord who allows the plants to grow which is the same concerning His Kingdom. It is the Lord that causes it to grow. I used the word agents of growth. Which means that this “agent” let say a chemical or something, will cause another matter to grow when added. Just like the yeast. The yeast was actually an agent of growth. It was added to the dough and the dough grew bigger.
This is supposed to be the same to us as Christians. We are supposed to be agents of growth that when added to the group of non-believers, we will cause their belief on God to grow, that through us, their eyes will be opened about God.
In contrast to this, what is happening is that we became the recipient of growth. It was the non believer who became the agents of growth. We are the one who believes in them and adopted what they are teaching. Instead that we are supposed to be influencing, we are the one being influenced.
